Provided is a kimchi refrigerator, which has an improved cooling system, reduces noises generated in a compressor, reduces power consumption required for driving the compressor, and decreases a temperature variance in a storage chamber under high-temperature conditions. The kimchi refrigerator comprises: a main body having at least one storage chamber(12a-12c) and a mechanical chamber; a compressor mounted in the mechanical chamber for compressing a coolant; a condenser for condensing the coolant; an evaporator provided at the outside of the storage chamber, and cooperating with the compressor and the condenser to form a refrigerating cycle; and a plurality of solenoid valves(31a-31c) provided in a closed refrigerating cycle for opening/closing the corresponding coolant pipe selectively. The kimchi refrigerator further comprises a control unit(30) for controlling the condition of the solenoid valves depending on the operation condition of the compressor. The control unit initially makes a pressure balance by opening all the solenoid valves, and then causes the other solenoid valves than the solenoid valve disposed at the side of the storage chamber to be closed before driving the compressor. |
