A convection type microwave oven is provided to cook food evenly by simultaneously performing the grill function and the convection function, and to decrease the entire length by forming a grill unit in an upper part of a cavity and forming a convection unit in an electric component chamber. A convection type microwave oven includes a body(100) having an outer case, a rear plate and a front plate, a cavity(200) formed in the body to form a cooking chamber, a heater chamber(320) communicated with an upper part of the cavity and provided with a grille heater(310) supplying radiant heat, an electric component chamber formed in the body and provided with a high voltage transformer, a magnetron, a blower fan and a fan motor, and a convection unit(400) formed in the electric component chamber to circulate, reheat and supply air from the cooking chamber to the cavity. The convection unit has a convection chamber(410) communicated with the side of the cavity and provided with a suction part sucking air from the cooking chamber and an exhaust part supplying air to the cavity, a convection fan(440) sucking air from the cavity, a convection motor(450) driving the convection fan, and a convection heater(420) formed in the convection chamber to provide convection heat.
