PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera which achieves a communication, securing a security properties by a public telephone line to transmit an image data and a sound data and to require SIM, and which is multi-functional. SOLUTION: The electronic camera has a data communicating means 55 to utilize the public telephone line, a serial communication means 10 to serial-transmit among other information apparatuses to utilize the line, an operation means 7, a display means 8, a loading portion 6B for inserting a card-shaped medium 9 storing a line subscriber information; a sending-and-receiving signal processing means 54 for processing an image signal to be changed to the sending signal and for processing the receiving signal to be changed to a recording signal or a reproducing signal; sound-outputting means 62 and 65; sound-inputting means 63 and 64; a recording means 52 for storing the image signal and a sound signal; and a sound signal processing portion 60 for reading the sound signal recorded in the recording means, for output-processing it from the sound outputting means and for processing an input signal resulting from the sound-inputting means to be changed to the recording signal or the reproducing signal.
