<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a configuration for enhancing the color reproducibility of transmission display in a display using a color filter having a complementary color-based colored layer. <P>SOLUTION: An electrooptical device comprises an electrooptical unit having a display unit with three types of light transmission regions arranged by overlapping dichromatic colored layers in complementary color-based three colors; and an illumination unit that has luminous peaks Pr, Pb, Pg of primary color-based three colors and irradiates the electrooptical device with light. When the maximum value of the transmittance of each colored layer of the complementary color-based three colors in the visible light region having a wavelength of 380-780 nm is set to a, the minimum value of the transmittance is set to b, and the absorption wavelength range of each colored layer of the complementary color-based three colors is defined to be a wavelength range in which a wavelength region for obtaining the minimum value is included and the transmittance continuously becomes b+a×0.1 or smaller, the wavelengths of the luminous peaks Pr, Pb, Pg of the primary color-based three colors are all set to the inside of one of absorption wavelength ranges WY, WM, WC of each colored layer of the complementary color-based three colors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
