<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display with less light loss which does not require a film for improving brightness of the liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal display panel having no color filter and capable of displaying only a monochromatic image, and a backlight unit having a color converter. Because no color filter is formed, light loss by a color filter can be prevented and brightness is improved. The production cost is reduced because a separate brightness enhancing film is unnecessary. Further, production efficiency of the panel is improved because difficulties encountered in arranging color filters and a black matrix are avoided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
