DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING DRIVE OF RECORDING MEDIUM, AND PROGRAM THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently carry out a write-in of data when a difference arises in capacities between the data sent from a host and the data actually to be written into a recording medium.

SOLUTION: The device is equipped with: a host I/F section 31 for storing a data set sent from the host to a buffer memory 32 and taking out the data set stored in the buffer memory 32 to send it to the host; a media I/F section 33 for taking out the data set stored in the buffer memory 32 to transfer it to a tape and storing the data set read out from the tape to the buffer memory 32; a transfer rate acquiring section 34 for acquiring the transfer rate in between the host from the host I/F section 31; an error rate acquiring section 35 for acquiring the error rate when writing data into the tape from the media I/F section 33; a speed deciding section 36 for deciding the tape speed in accordance with these transfer rate and error rate; and a speed control section 37 for controlling the tape so that the tape is operated at the decided speed.
