PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Internet washing machine which reduces electric power consumed to keep the Internet washing machine in a remotely controlled state and enables a customer at home to recognize information in accordance with the state when the power is supplied to the Internet washing machine by remote control, and the controlling method. SOLUTION: In S 250, a control part counts additional time when the Internet washing machine is switched to a state of remote control mode. In S260, the control part changes the mode of the Internet washing machine to a power-saving mode if the operational part does not operate within a time T2 set in S260. The change to the power-saving mode means a change in which though the power of the washing machine is turned off, the minimal power to turn the power on by electric control is supplied. In S270, the control part cancels the remote control mode and carries out the control by the operation when the operational part operates within the time T2. In S280, the control part cancels the power-saving mode and the remote control mode and carries out the control by the operation when if operational part operates in the power-saving mode.
