PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope system which enables the simultaneous display of the moving and still pictures using normal and fluorescent images. SOLUTION: In the case of a freeze signal Low, a prestage signal processing circuit 57 loads a normal image signal and a fluorescent image signal alternately into the first and second image memories 58a and 58b. Image signals are read out of the image memories not involved in the loading to be transmitted to a post-stage signal processing circuit 59 and an image signal is read out of the fourth image memory 58d to be transmitted to the post signal processing circuit 59 without performing the reading out of or loading into the third image memory 58c. The post-stage signal processing circuit 59 transmits the normal image signal and the fluorescent image signal alternately outputted from the first and second image memories to a monitor 60 to display a moving picture, and the normal image signal and the fluorescent image signal outputted from the fourth image memory to the monitor to display a still image. In the case of a freeze signal High, the first image memory is used for the still images and the third and fourth image memories are used for the display of the moving images.
