<p>The invention concerns an axially steerable and torsionally rigid mechanical transmission between a proximal end (2) and a distal end (4) comprising at least one pair of hinged transverse shields (6, 7, 9), and flexible members (16) controlled by traction of the axial orientation of the transmission traversing said shields (6, 7, 9). The shields (6, 7, 9) are hinged in pairs by at least one connection to a spherical contact central point. Flexible but shear-rigid retaining rods (21) are coupled to the shields (6, 7, 9) so as to maintain them relative to one another in torsion about the neutral axis while allowing the axially oriented bending movements of the transmission.</p> |
