A method for controlling an agitator by checking whether a compressor is operated or not, comparatively determining accumulated times from an open time point of the compressor, checking whether it is a cold water discharge mode or not, and comparatively determining accumulated times from a time point after stopping discharge of cold water is provided to constantly maintain temperature of water or the state of ice and prevent temperature of water from being rapidly changed. A method for controlling an agitator of a refrigerants water tank type purifier comprises the steps of: determining whether a compressor is operated or not; and operating an agitator of a refrigerants water tank if the compressor is operated, and stopping the agitator for at least a predetermined time if the compressor is not operated. A method for controlling an agitator of a refrigerants water tank type purifier comprises the steps of: determining whether a compressor is operated or not; and operating an agitator of a refrigerants water tank if the compressor is operated, and determining whether a time accumulated from the non-operating time point exceeds a set time or not if the compressor is not operated; and operating the agitator if the accumulated time does not exceed the set time, and stopping the agitator for at least a predetermined time if the accumulated time exceeds the set time.
