An apparatus and a method for automatically controlling the karaoke environment are provided to analyze a user's sound signal inputted through a microphone and to automatically set the key and tone values of the karaoke audio output. An A/D(Analog to Digital) converting member(20) converts a user's sound signal inputted through a microphone into a digital signal. A sound frequency detecting member(21) samples, detects, analyzes the frequency component among the converted user's sound signal and thereafter transmits the resulting value to a microprocessor(24). The microprocessor reads the arbitrary key value and tone value with reference to the user's sound frequency and level and the like. The microprocessor also controls an optimum karaoke environment according to the user's sound signal through an equalizer.
