METHOD FOR ADSORBING BILE ACID UTILIZING ENTEROBACTERIUM, AND BILE ACID-ADSORBING SUBSTANCE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for suppressing biosyntheses or promoting metabolism owing to reducing in vivo cholesterol levels as a result of increasing bile acid secretion by bile acid intake.

SOLUTION: Owing to enterobacteria having such characteristics as to positively make an intake of bile acid in the presence of a saccharide source such as glucose and release no bile acid extracellularly while the saccharide source is supplied, and since these enterobacteria exist predominantly in the intestine and form no secondary bile acid, the formation of such harmful secondary bile acid concomitant with the increase in bile acid secretion can also be suppressed.
