<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus carrying out accurate exposure control in the case of imaging a still picture. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus images a still picture, and when a shutter button 110 is depressed, a control circuit 107 calculates an exposure amount under present exposure control. Then the imaging apparatus determines the exposure amount in the case of imaging the still picture on the basis of a result of the calculation obtained at imaging of a moving picture, and a mechanical shutter control circuit 108 and an imaging element drive circuit 109 carry out exposure control.
