PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit attribute information of a character, especially a black character without deteriorating the resolution of the attribute information while reducing a transmission amount; to reduce a data amount and a storage amount of internal flow even when not transmitting the attribute information to an external device, or the like in a device or the like for transmitting the attribute information to the external device. SOLUTION: This image processing apparatus determines the attribute of the acquired image from the image and generates the determined attribute as an attribute pattern image patterned in one bit. Then, the image and the attribute pattern image are transmitted to the external device. In patterning, a black character is patterned in the highest density, and a color character is patterned in the second highest density after the black character. Thus, attribute information corresponding to two bits is transmitted as an attribute pattern image patterned in one bit together with the image to thereby be able to suppress a transmission amount. In addition, resolution deterioration of attribute information does not occur about a character, especially a black character, and a high quality image can be outputted when printed out at a transmission destination.
