Provided are an organic silane-based water-repellent coating composition, which has storage stability without causing precipitation of particles, and a method for forming a coating layer using the same, which controls transparency and contact angle of a coating film on water. The organic silane-based water-repellent coating composition contains surface-modified nano particles. The coating composition comprises: a reaction product obtained by dissolving at least one organic silane compound selected from the group consisting of alkoxysilane and alkyl alkoxysilane defined by the following formula 1 in 0.1 to 20-fold organic solvent based on the total weight of the organic silane compound, and adding an acidic or basic catalyst and water to the resultant solution to subject the organic silane compound to hydrolysis and condensation polymerization; and an organic solvent used as a diluent in an amount equivalent to 0.1-1000 times total weight of the reaction product. The organic silane-based surface-modified nano particles are obtained by surface-modifying an organic silane compound selected from the group consisting of alkoxysilane and alkyl alkoxysilane defined by the formula 1. The nano particles are contained in an amount of 1-90wt% based on solid weight of the total coating composition. In the formula 1, x is an integer of 1-4, R^1 is a C1-12 alkyl group, a C3-10 cycloalkyl group, a C6-15 aryl group, a C1-12 alkyl group with an unsaturated hydrocarbon bonding, or an alkyl group substituted with a fluoro atom, and R^2 represents a hydrogen atom or a C1-4 alkyl group. |
