A fringe field switching mode LCD is provided to reduce the leakage of light at edges of slits, thereby promoting the stabilization of color expression, by forming slits of a pixel electrode to have cramp shapes. An LCD comprises an array substrate, a color filter substrate, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the array substrate and the color filter substrate. A flat type counter electrode(26) and a slit type pixel electrode(27) overlap each other with an insulating layer therebetween, within a pixel region. The counter electrode and the pixel electrode are formed of a transparent conductive material. Slits of the pixel electrode incline with respect to a horizontal direction, and both ends of each slit have cramp shapes. |
