PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide manual guide scanning underground probing device which surely stops detection measuring upon guide means is partially or entirely detached from ground, as well as control method for that purpose. SOLUTION: This is the manual guide scanning underground probing device provided with both detection module and computing means inside operational housing, which contains guide means designed so as to guide the detection module on the wall surface to be probed at regular distance. The above guide means has at least one channel sensor connected with the computing means to controllably connect this channel sensor with the detection module via control means. The control method of the underground probing device comprises a scanning step for obtaining channel of the guide means measured by the channel sensor, and a detecting step for performing detection measuring through the detection module, using the control means to control the above detecting step depending on positional variation of the guide means for wall surface.
