PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for mixing a rubber composition which can obtain the rubber composition with physical properties such as viscosity and a modulus of elasticity and quality stabilized in the mixing of the rubber composition and to provide a rubber product with stabilized performance. SOLUTION: In the method for mixing the rubber composition in which the rubber composition is mixed in a plurality of steps, in the mixing method in which the rubber composition is mixed in a plurality of steps in a mixer in a rubber composition mixing process for mixing the rubber composition in the closed mixer, in at least one step, after a cumulative quantity S of electric power for rotating/driving a mixing rotor 2 reaches a target cumulative quantity S1 of electric power set in advance for the step, the rubber composition is controlled to be transferred to the next step.
