PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve precision of a collision detection apparatus. SOLUTION: The collision detection apparatus 1 detects collision with an external surface part of a vehicle on the basis of the quantity of transmitted light of an optical fiber 3 arranged along the external surface part of the vehicle. A shape memory alloy 5 is arranged along the optical fiber 3. It is preferable that a transformation temperature of the shape memory alloy 5 is matched with a variation temperature at which the temperature characteristics of the optical fiber 3 substantially vary.
