An electrode for electric double layer capacitors wherein a polarizable porous sheet composed of constituent materials including a carbonaceous electric double layer-forming material, a carbon material for securing conductivity and a binder is integrated to at least one surface of a collector via a conductive intermediate layer is characterized in that the conductive intermediate layer contains a synthetic rubber and two or more kinds of carbon materials having different particle diameters. Such an electrode can be easily produced continuously, and has a high heat resistant adhesion between the polarizable porous sheet and the collector as well as a low internal resistance. When this electrode is used in an electric double layer capacitor, it enables to secure a higher capacity and a lower internal resistance than the conventional ones.
