PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber suitably used for a wide band optical signal transmission between network equipment with low loss and low bending loss by attaining an optical coupling part which transmits at a high efficiency an optical signal outputted from a light source into an optical fiber. SOLUTION: The optical fiber has a core 10, a clad 11 surrounding the core, and a plurality of holes 12 in parallel with the center axis of the core 10 and in the vicinity of the outer face of the core in the clad 11. The core 10 has a GI (Graded Index) type refractive index distribution having the refractive index distribution constantαof 1.5 to 2.5, and NA (Numerical Aperture) of 0.3 to 1.0.
