STEERING CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE AND METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering control device for a vehicle capable of stabilizing the vehicle behavior by assisting optimally the steering torque of a driver according to the running situation.

SOLUTION: The steering control device for the vehicle equipped with a power steering mechanism to give an assist torque on the basis of steering torque of the driver is furnished with a transient assist controlling means to control the assist torque so that the characteristic of the vehicle behavior or steering angle relative to the steering torque lessens as the frequency of the steering torque becomes higher.
