PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erroneous operation and improve operability, upon turning on a power supply. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an optical system having a photographic lens 2; an imaging means for obtaining image data by imaging light made incident via the optical system; a first power supply means for supplying power to the imaging means; a second power supply means for supplying power to circuits other than the imaging means; a holding section 3 that cancels an instruction by a photographing mode key 8 with the power source on, a reproduction mode key 9 with the power source on, a power source key 6, the photographing mode key 8 with the power source on, or the reproduction mode key 9 with the power source on and that receives an input by any of them; and a control means for nullifying the cancellation by detecting the input of the holding part 3.
