PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film excellent in dimensional stability when used at a high temperature. SOLUTION: This biaxially oriented polyester film is formed by using polyethylene naphthalenedicarboxylate as a main component, wherein the film has a peak temperature of tanδof≥140°C and a peak strength of≤0.25 in viscoelastic measurement of the film, and further has heat shrinkage percentages in longitudinal and transverse directions of the film of more than 1.5% and not more than 5.0%, respectively, when the film is heat-treated at 260°C for 10 min.
