PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a puzzle material and a puzzle making kit, capable of easily making an original puzzle consisting of desired patterns and having high value in the design. SOLUTION: A sheet body with an ink receiving layer for ink-jet recording on a base material is cut into a plurality of pieces 2 to make the puzzle material. The puzzle material has a base body 3 on which the plurality of pieces 2 are mounted. The base body 3 can be used as a medium mounting plate, on which a recording medium is mounted, of an ink-jet recording device 40 to be stored in the ink-jet recording device. The ink-jet recording device 40 comprises the medium mounting plate, a conveyor system for conveying the medium mounting plate, and a recording head for spouting ink toward the recording medium mounted on the medium mounting plate.
