<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for judging the life or death of cells under culture in high accuracy without needing any special dye or transferring any special gene while suppressing damage on the cells under the long-term culture to a minimum. <P>SOLUTION: Based on paying attention to the fact that cells died without undergoing physical damage during culture become approximately circular in shape, leading to being put to dormancy and maintaining the above shape, The system works as follows: The roundness as a cell parameter characterizing a cell domain R<SB>t,m</SB>photographed and measured at multiple points in time is compared with its threshold value(steps S732 to S735) to judge the life or death of the cells(steps S736 and S737), thus ensuring the life or death of the cells under culture to be judged in high accuracy without needing any special dye or transferring any special gene while suppressing damage on the cells under the long-term culture to a minimum. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
