摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of flaws of a nozzle surface due to wiping of the nozzle surface in a dry state. SOLUTION: Immediately before wiping of the nozzle surface 17 is carried out, while an opening and closing valve 84 of an ink feeding passage 82 is open, a driving waveform of a driving voltage whereby ink overflows to the nozzle surface 17 by a degree not to eject ink droplets from nozzles 16 is applied to a piezoelectric element 60. An ink overflow 80 is generated at the nozzle surface 17. The application of the driving voltage to the piezoelectric element 60 is then stopped. At the same time, the opening and closing valve 84 is closed to block the ink feeding passage 82. Even when the application of the driving voltage is stopped, the ink overflowing to the nozzle surface 17 is prevented from returning to the inside of the nozzles 16. By wiping the nozzle surface 17 in this state, a contact part between a wiper 18 and the nozzle surface 17 becomes wet, so that the generation of flaws of the nozzle surface 17 is prevented.
