PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fixing characteristic by preventing pressing force at a center part out of pressing force for pressing a heat resistant belt against a thermal fixing roll by a sliding member from relatively getting weak because of the deflection of a shaft, thereby forming a uniform fixing nip. SOLUTION: The fixing device is equipped with: the thermal fixing roll 1; the pressure roll 2 pressed against the thermal fixing roll 1; the sliding members 4 and 5 sliding with the rotation of the pressure roll 2 and forming a nip part with the thermal fixing roll 1; and the heat resistant belt 3 stretched and laid between the pressure roll 2 and the sliding members 4 and 5 and moving while it is held between the pressure roll 2 and the thermal fixing roll 1, and fixes an unfixed toner image formed on sheet material. The thermal fixing roll 1 and the pressure roll 2 are fixed through the shafts, and the nip forming surface of the sliding members 4 and 5 with the thermal fixing roll 1 is constituted so that the center part of the shaft may be swollen to the thermal fixing roll 1 side with respect to the end of the shaft.
