摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high purity alkali iodide, by which an unreacted reductant is not left behind by using the reductant of one reaction equivalent to iodine in a low cost reaction bath and the reaction efficiency can be enhanced, and which enables mass production. SOLUTION: An alkali compound represented by an alkali hydroxide, an alkali carbonate, an alkali bicarbonate or the like of an amount of 0.8-0.95 times of the reaction equivalent to iodine and hydrazine of one reaction equivalent to iodine are added to set the pH to 4-8, and finally, the shortage amount of the reaction equivalent of the alkali hydroxide, the alkali carbonate or the alkali bicarbonate is additionally added to complete the reaction. Thereby, a violent reaction under an alkaline condition can be suppressed and the aqueous solution of an alkali iodide can be produced in a reaction bath lined with glass without using the excess amount of hydrazine.
