PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate transferring type thermal transfer printing apparatus which can prevent a film from being relaxed when the film is moved back and forth so that deviation of the running line of the film should be corrected. SOLUTION: When the film F is moved back and forth, under a condition that a clutch 42 on the upstream side is connected, a bobbin 15 on the upstream side is rotated reversely by a driving motor 33 on the upstream side, and the film F with a specified amount is wound up by the bobbin 15. At this time, under a condition that a clutch 42 on the downstream side is disconnected, a bobbin 16 on the downstream side is rotated reversely by following the bobbin 15 on the upstream side, and a specified value T1 of torque is acted on the bobbin 16 by a torque limiter 47 on the down stream side. Thereby, when the bobbin 15 on the upstream side is stopped, the bobbin 16 on the downstream side stops almost simultaneously. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the film F from being relaxed when the film F is moved back and forth so that the deviation of the running line of the film F should be corrected.
