PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing an imidized (meth)acrylic ester-aromatic vinyl copolymer while suppressing heat deterioration. SOLUTION: The method for producing the imidized (meth)acrylic ester-aromatic vinyl copolymer by imidizing a (meth)acrylic ester-aromatic vinyl copolymer by using a twin screw extruder having an inverse helical gash element in a reaction zone is characterized by Q/(Ns*D<SP>3</SP>) (wherein, Q is a discharged amount; Ns is a number of revolution of the screw; and D is the inner diameter of the screw) of≥30 kg/(revolution*m<SP>3</SP>) and≤70 kg/(revolution*m<SP>3</SP>). The imidized (meth)acrylic ester-aromatic vinyl copolymer can efficiently be produced while suppressing the heat deterioration by the method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
