<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent torsion caused by the linear reciprocation of a piston. <P>SOLUTION: The annular piston packing for a painting machine is attached to a recessed circumferential groove G formed on the outer circumference face Q of the linearly reciprocating piston P, and in a cross sectional shape, an inner circumferential face 2 corresponding to a bottom face G1 of the recessed circumferential groove G has a linear straight part 3. The width W and the height H of the cross sectional shape are set so as to be W/4≤H≤3W.
