A control message certification method of a network device for a home network is provided to achieve security and certification of a SOAP(Simple Object Access Protocol) message by using a Hash value calculated on the ground of a random message generated from the network device in a UPnP network. In a method for controlling a network device(20) from a control point(10), a password obtained from the network device is inputted and registered in the control point. The control point and the network device calculate each certification conversion value and compare the certification conversion values, on the ground of the password and a random message generated in the network device at every transmission of the control message. If the certification conversion values are identical, a control action is performed by receiving the control message.
