<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow players to sustain expectations from the starting to stopping of pattern variation and reduce the frequency of operations of shooting and stopping game balls along with a higher operating rate by eliminating predictable display states that may induce the intentional halting of shooting in the course of varying operations. <P>SOLUTION: A character 10 is made to appear during the temporary stoppage of two patterns and the left pattern is hidden to allow the possibility of shifting to an array of patterns tailored to make the state ready-for-win at the temporary stoppage from that never making the state ready-for-win thereby letting players feel further expectations. On the contrary, when the state becomes ready-for-win at the temporary stoppage, one of the patterns is hidden by the character 10 so that the players will be induced to desire not to see the state ready-for-win vanish, that is another expectation against the situation.
