PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the stable operation of a shaft regardless of the end shape of a spring in a thermal expansion valve constituted to stabilize the operation of the shaft for driving a valve part by applying lateral load to the shaft by the spring. SOLUTION: The thermal expansion valve has a tapered face 42 formed at a spring storage part 39 of a holder 32. The end of the coil spring on the opposite side to the shaft thereby abuts on the spring storage part 39 in face contact through the tapered face 42. A contact area between the end of the coil spring and the spring storage part 39 can thereby be taken large. As a result, the coil spring 33 can be stably held in the holder 32 regardless of the end shape of the coil spring, and the stable operation of the shaft 27 can be maintained.
