PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that can be manufactured easily by using an elastic material, such as silicone rubber for an object to be moved for displaying in a space constituting a single pixel. SOLUTION: A mobile electrode 10 and an elastic layer 11, made of silicon rubber or the like applied on the upper face of the electrode, are disposed as movable in a direction toward a top or a back face inside a space 9 constituting one pixel. When voltage is applied between a back face electrode plate 6 and the mobile electrode 10, the mobile electrode 10 with the elastic layer 11 moves toward the back face side by attractive force due to the Coulomb force, rendering the lower face of the mobile electrode 10 to be in contact with the upper face of an insulating film 7 on a back side (transparent) plate 2 and giving a white display state due to scattering on a rugged surface (active face) 3 of a surface side transparent plate 1. When voltage is applied between the top face electrode plate 4 and the mobile electrode 10, scattering will not be induced on the rugged face (active face) 3, resulting in a colored display state due to the color of the elastic layer 11.
