PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for producing a bead for a pneumatic tire which can improve the roundness accuracy of the ring of the produced bead while preventing the twisting of a bead forming member such as a wire or a strand. SOLUTION: In the production of the bead used in the bead core part of the pneumatic tire, during a process in which the bead forming member A is unwound from a member reel 11a, habit-formed by a habit forming device 15 by way of an extruder 14, and wound onto a winding former 17, and the bead forming member A, while being wound only in the same direction as the winding direction R onto the winding former 17, is transferred from the member reel 11a to the winding former 17.
