A surface light source device is provided to increase the surface area of a fluorescent layer, thereby maximizing the efficiency of the fluorescent layer, by forming the fluorescent layer to have an irregular surface using reflective pastes. An upper glass(11) and a lower glass(21) are coupled with each other to form a discharge space(14), into which a discharge gas is injected. Electrodes are provided for applying a voltage to the discharge gas. Reflective pastes(22a,22b) are provided on an upper surface of the lower glass. A reflector(23) and a lower fluorescent layer(24) are formed on the reflective pastes, thereby having an irregular surface. The reflective pastes are located in at least one channel constituting the discharge space. |
