Provided is a method for preparing an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene latex which comprises a high content of rubber, and shows stability, excellent surface property such as coloring property and gloss, and improved productivity. The method comprises the steps of (a) introducing (i) a polybutadiene rubber latex I which is prepared by using oil-soluble initiator and persulfate initiator and has an average particle size of 2,600-5,000 Š and a gel content of 65-87%, or a mixture of the polybutadiene rubber latex I and polybutadiene rubber latex II which is prepared by using water-soluble persulfate initiator, and has an average particle size of 2,600-5,000 Š and a gel content of 70-95%, (ii) aromatic vinyl compound, and (iii) vinylcyan compound to initiate a polymerization; (b) introducing (i) aromatic compound and (ii) vinylcyan compound at a time and reacting the compounds(i) and (ii) when conversion of monomers of the step(a) is 40-85%; (c) introducing (i) aromatic compound and (ii) vinylcyan compound at a time or sequentially and reacting the compounds(i) and (ii) when conversion of monomers of the step(b) is 40-85%; and (d) terminating the reaction when conversion of monomers of the step(c) is 90-95%.
