<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus enabling a user to easily visually check the presence/absence of paper discharged to a paper discharge part. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with the paper discharge 15 which is formed in an image forming apparatus body 1 so as to be open to the front X1 via an open part provided for removing paper and in which the paper is discharged to the left and right directions Y1 and Y2 as seen from the front X1; and an opening part 17 for lighting the paper discharge part 15. The paper discharge part 15 has an inclined part 15c, formed such that the portion corresponding to the trailing end of discharged paper in the direction of paper transport is the lowest. The opening 17 is capable of introducing light so that the space of the paper discharge part 15, including the inclined part 15c, is not dark.
