PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer fine particle having≤15 nm average particle diameter, to provide a dispersion of the polymer particle, and to provide a method for producing the dispersion. SOLUTION: The polymer fine particle is obtained by emulsion polymerization of (a) at least one monomer selected from a group consisting of carboxylic acid, sulfonic acid, sulfate ester, phosphate ester, and sodium salt, potassium salt and ammonium salt thereof, which have C-C double bond in a molecule, and (b) another polymerizable monomer having C-C double bond in a molecule, and has 50% average particle diameter of≤15 nm. The polymer fine particle dispersion comprises the polymer fine particle having 50% average particle diameter of≤15 nm, a surfactant and an aqueous medium. The method for producing the polymer fine particle comprises emulsion polymerization in an aqueous medium containing 0.5-30 wt.% (a) based on 100 wt.% total use amount of the (a) and the (b) monomers and 1-15 wt.% surfactant, so that the 50% average particle diameter is≤15 nm.
