A device and a method for repairing the moving handrail of a passenger conveyor. The moving hand rail is installed on the railing of the passenger conveyor, and the surface part of the moving handrail is formed of a thermoplastic material. The handrail repairing device comprises a heating means heating and melting the surface part. If the surface part is damaged, the portion of the surface part to be repaired is heated and melted, and then re-hardened.
