PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for a solid state imaging device that can surely shorten an output time when pixels are thinned out. SOLUTION: The driving method for the solid state imaging device which outputs signal charges read out of photoelectric converting elements by pixels arrayed in two-dimensional matrix through VCCDs provided for the respective columns, individual CCDs which are provided downstream from the respective VCCDs and individually transfer the electric charges from the corresponding VCCDs, and one HCCD drives the solid state imaging device by using an illustrated control signal so that (1) the VCCDs transfer signal charges read out of photoelectric converting elements corresponding to a first pixel and also transfers noise charges originating from a leakage current as to a second pixel, (2) at least one of the individual CCD and HCCD mixes the noise charges with the signal charges, and (3) the HCCD transfers signal charges obtained from the individual transfer means corresponding to a plurality of columns and noise charges while mixing them into one.
