PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new lighting system allowing the design of a shade to be made novel by functionally dividing a lamp fitting into a lamp fitting body supported by an arm for holding an fluorescent lamp and the shade, allowing a die cost of the shade to be reduced, allowing the color of the lamp fitting to be changed by minimum change of parts, and allowing dust and stain adhering to the shade to be simply wiped out. SOLUTION: This lighting system 1 is composed by holding a horizontally-long lamp fitting 4 with the fluorescent lamp incorporated therein at an end of the arm 9. The lamp fitting comprises: the lamp fitting body 10 made of a synthetic resin and connected to the arm; and the shade 5 mounted by overlaying it on the upper part of the lamp fitting body. A front edge part 18A and both ends 18B of the upper surface part 18 of the shade are set in a dimensional relationship projecting as compared with the lamp fitting body. The rear edge part of the upper surface part of the shade is so set as to be prevented from projecting from the rearmost end of the rear surface part of the lamp fitting body.
