PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methacrylic resin having a high heat resistance, also excellent in moisture absorption and light transmittance, and used for e.g. an optical member. SOLUTION: This methacrylic resin showing≥150°C glass transition temperature is obtained by mixing (x) (wt.%) urethane dimethacrylate obtained by performing the urethane-forming reaction in a ratio of 1 mol of diisocyanate having an aliphatic ring to 2 mols of 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate or 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, (y) (wt.%) urethane dimethacrylate and (z) (wt.%) monofunctional methacrylate such as methyl methacrylate, isobornyl methacrylate, t-butyl methacrylate, etc., under a condition of setting their sum as 100 (wt.%), within each of the ranges of 5≤x≤90, 5≤y≤90 and 5≤z≤35, and polymerizing (casting/radical polymerization).
