PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of fixing and supporting coil in an electric rotating machine, which can fix and support a stator coil easily and form a high thermal conductivity layer having a large contact area between the coil and the iron core in a slot to enhance the heat radiating performance of the coil. SOLUTION: In the method of fixing and supporting the stator coil 5 which is inserted into the slot 2 provided to the stator iron core 2 of the electric rotating machine, a tube-like semiconductive elastomer 9 having pores on surface is made to be a base material as the supporting member 8 which is inserted between the upper side coil 5b and the lower side coil 5a, an elastic fluid 10 excellent in heat transfer property is contained in the tube, and the supporting member 8 and the stator coil 5 are simultaneously inserted into the slot 2 to support and fix the stator coil 5.
