摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a diesel engine, simultaneously reducing both CO and NOx. SOLUTION: This control device is provided with heat capacity varying means 4, 32 for adjusting a heat capacity of suction gas charged into a cylinder 8, an effective compression ratio varying means 31 for adjusting an effective compression ratio of suction gas, oxygen concentration varying means 5, 31, 32 for adjusting oxygen concentration of suction gas, and a control means 6 for controlling each of the heat capacity varying means 4, 32, the effective compression ratio varying means 31, and the oxygen concentration varying means 5, 31, 32. When performing pre-mixture combustion, the control means 5 increases the effective compression ratio by the effective compression ratio varying means 31 and also reduces the heat capacity by the heat capacity varying means 4, 32 according as an operating condition is a low load so that suction gas is made to be in a stoichiometric condition by the oxygen concentration varying means 5, 31, 32 and a combustion temperature in the cylinder 8 falls in a predetermined range.
