PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proper images without stripes by having a scar on a belt, by a separating claw that is made inconspicuous in a fixing apparatus, and to provide an image forming apparatus that uses it. SOLUTION: The fixing apparatus is provided with an endless fixing belt 26 hung on a plurality of rollers 26a and 26b including at least one heating roller, a pressurizing roller 27 forming a nip part N fixing toner on transfer paper P by being brought into a pressurized contact with the endless fixing belt 26, a separating means 261 preventing wrapping of the transfer paper P on the endless fixing belt 26, by being brought into contact with a surface of the endless fixing belt 26, and a polishing means 263 polishing the surface of the endless fixing belt 26.
