PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus capable of attaining color reproduction faithful to an original image and preventing unnatural hue even in the case of displaying the image using TV-broadcasting as an image source by using a projector using a solid-state light source as a light source and a liquid crystal display apparatus using a solid-state light source as a back light. SOLUTION: Regarding the projector 1 equipped with the light source 10 including the red light solid-state light source 10R, the green light solid-state light source 10G and the blue light solid-state light source 10B and liquid crystal elements 20R, 20G and 20B for modulating the light emitted from the light source 10 and generating image light, the red light solid-state light source 10R, the green light solid-state light source 10G and the blue light solid-state light source 10B separately emit semi-monochromatic light having light emission band property approximate to spectral characteristics obtained upon TV camera photographing.
