PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front surface mirror of large area which exhibits high reflectivity over the entire visible light region, and which can be used as a back mirror of a rear projection video display apparatus. SOLUTION: The front surface mirror is such that a silver film / an aluminum film / a reflection increasing film are formed, in this order, by sputtering on the surface of a glass substrate and the thickness of the aluminum film is set to 1nm to 5nm. The reflection increasing film is constituted by alternately laminating a low refractive index film selected from among SiO<SB>2</SB>, Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, ZrO<SB>2</SB>, SnO<SB>2</SB>, SiOxNy and SiOxCyNz and a high-refractive index film selected from among TiO<SB>2</SB>, Nb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, Ta<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, ZnO, Si<SB>3</SB>N<SB>4</SB>, SiOx, SiOxNy and SiOxCyNz by 2 to 5 layers and the low-refractive index film is formed directly above the aluminum film.
